ECUMEN AND BECLOSE PARTNER TO HELP SENIORS AGE-IN-PLACE SAFELY AND SECURELY IN THEIR HOMES
Partnership Designed to Empower Seniors and Their Families

Vienna, VA and Shoreview, MN, May 31, 2011 BeClose, a leading provider of remote caregiving systems, today announced a partnership with Ecumen, an innovative non-profit senior housing and services company, which operates a variety of senior housing options and at-home and community-based services in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and Idaho. Ecumen will include BeClose in its Twin Cities-based Ecumen at Home offering, which provides technology, home care, transportation and a variety of other services to empower seniors who desire to live in their own home.

"We see technology playing a much greater role in empowering families and their loved ones," said Larry Jorgensen, Chief Information Officer of Ecumen. "What we particularly like about BeClose is how unobtrusive it is for the customer. No pendant needs to be worn, for example, and it has a very intuitive computer interface for family members. It also doesn't require a broadband connection or second phone line."

"We are very excited about our new partnership with Ecumen," said Liddy Manson, President of BeClose. "Ecumen is nearly 150 years old, and they have been an early adopter in using technology to support their mission of creating homes for older adults wherever they choose to live."

A key aspect of the BeClose system is its dedicated, real-time cellular channel to the home, which allows for additional customer savings. Not only are competitive alternatives more expensive on a standalone basis, but they also typically require the installation of a broadband connection or a second phone line, something the BeClose solution does not need.
